IEC 61681-1, Ed. 1 Ultrasonics - Field safety - Part 1: Classification scheme for medical diagnostic ultrasonic fields

Abstract

This International Standard specifies the requirements that must be fullfilled by manufacturers of medical diagnostic ultrasonic equipment, in order to declare a class for an ultrasonic field, operational mode or probe based on its potential to induce either a temperature rise or acoustic cavitation. It establishes requirements for allocation of a safety classification to ultrasonic fields generated by this equipment. It´s applicable to medical diagnostic ultrasonic fields in the frequency range 1 MHz to 15 MHz
