IEC 61280-3-7: Fibre optic communication subsystem basic test procedures - Part 3-7: Test procedures for analogue systems - Transmitter or receiver bandwidth measurement

Abstract

One intent of this test procedure is to measure the minimum and maximum modulation frequencies which define the 3 dB (optical) passband of a fibre optic transmitter or receiver. Another intent is to measure the minimum and maximum modulation frequencies of a fibre optic transmitter and receiver installed in a fibre optic transmission system. This method is intended primarily to establish equipment or system performance characteristics prior to placement in service or while in an "off-line" state. While it may be possible to adapt the test for use on inservice systems, such use in beyond the scope of this document.
