Abstract
This part of IEC 60721 is an introduction to an guide for the use of all other parts 3-1, 3-2 etc. of IEC 60721. It contains background information including information on application and limitation of the classes given in IEC 60721. It describes the difference between the environmental conditions the product will meet during its life, described by classes in IEC 60721, and conditions of test use to assure that the product willl operate satisfactorily under such environmental conditions.
