Electric road systems - Dynamic charging by means of overhead contact line - Requirements for electrical safety and interoperability

Abstract

This prestandard applies to the on-board energy transmission unit (VIC) of electrically powered commercial vehicles, including hybrid drives, which can be operated on electrified public roads and highways. The electrical road system consists of a two-pole DC overhead contact line system without an earthing conductor with a nominal system voltage of DC 1 500 V according to DIN EN 50163 (VDE 0115-102). The energy transfer can occur both when the vehicle is stationary (e.g. in a traffic jam) under overhead line systems and while driving. This does not include the application of stationary charging. This document applies to road vehicles of category N3 with a maximum permissible mass exceeding 12 t according to Regulation (EU) 2018/858 for operation on an overhead line system.
