Definitions and parameters on cylindrical worm gear pairs with rectangular crossing shafts — Part 3: Worm and worm wheel with flanks of different lead angles (Dual lead teeth)

Abstract

This document defines terms and parameters for cylindrical worm gears with flank types A, C, I, K and N (in accordance with DIN 3975-1), where both flanks have different lead angles. This form of worm geometry is known as ‘dual lead’ and is usually labelled as such. The terms and determinants shown here apply to gear sets, worms, worm gears, tooth thickness dimensions and backlash of such dual lead gearing. DIN 3975-2 applies to deviations.
