Explosive atmospheres - Part 29-3: Gas detectors - Guidance on functional safety of fixed gas detection systems

Abstract

This part of the IEC 60079-29 series gives guidance for the design and realization of a fixed gas detection system including associated and/or peripheral gas detection equipment for the measurement of combustible gases/vapours and oxygen when used in safety-related applications in accordance with IEC 61508 and IEC 61511. This part is also applicable to the measurement of toxic gases. It contains safety-related considerations for fixed gas detection systems, including associated and/or peripheral gas detection equipment in relation to the framework and philosophy of IEC 61508 and introduces the specific requirements that are required for fixed gas detection systems.
