Sustainability criteria for hydrogen and hydrogen derivates

Abstract

This standard establishes principles, criteria, and indicators for the sustainability of the production, transportation, and storage of hydrogen and its derivatives to facilitate the assessment of the environmental, social, and economic aspects of sustainability. The sustainability aspects of end uses are not part of the scope of this project. These criteria are applicable to all types of hydrogen and its derivative production and apply regardless of the production technology, geographical location, storage, or final use. This project does not set thresholds or limits, does not evaluate the criteria, and does not describe specific production methods. Compliance with this standard does not imply the sustainability of hydrogen and its derivatives. It can also be applied to facilitate the comparability of different technologies.
