Flow battery energy systems for stationary applications - Part 2-2: Safety requirements

Abstract

This part of IEC 62932-2-2 applies to flow battery systems and installations for operation at fixed locations with a maximum voltage of 1 500 V DC (nominal voltage) in accordance with IEC 62932-1. It applies to flow battery systems at fixed locations intended for indoor, outdoor, commercial and industrial use in non-hazardous (unclassified) areas. It specifies requirements and test methods for risk reduction and protective measures against significant hazards posed by flow battery systems to people, property and the environment, or a combination thereof. Significant hazards, hazardous situations and events caused by flow battery systems are considered, with the exception of those related to natural disasters. The requirements of this International Standard are not intended to restrict innovation. Therefore, fluid considerations, materials, design or construction are not explicitly addressed.
