Creation of a product carbon footprint (PCF) for power tools for forestry, landscape conservation, construction, industry and the trades

Abstract

This topic has been submitted as a request for the development of a DIN SPEC according to the PAS procedure. The application is currently being examined. DIN SPECs are developed within workshops set up on a temporary basis. This document will be developed and approved by the authors who will approve the business plan. This document defines the creation of a Product Carbon Footprint (PCF) for power tools based on DIN EN IEC 63366 Product category rules for life cycle assessment of electrical and electronic products and systems. This concerns processes and requirements for defining the greenhouse gas potential, the methods to be used for the life cycle assessment and other relevant criteria. It also defines product specific rules (PSR) for functional units of different product groups. In this document, power tools are motorized, hand-held, transportable tools and lawn and garden machinery for the construction sector, forestry, garden and landscape maintenance as well as trade, industry and DIY in accordance with DIN EN IEC 62841, DIN EN ISO 5395, DIN EN ISO 11681, DIN EN ISO 11806, DIN EN ISO 10517, DIN EN ISO 11680, ISO 11789 and DIN EN 15503.
