Method for measuring technically necessary manual actuating forces

Abstract

This DIN/TS 35444 defines a possible measuring method with which technically necessary manual actuating forces can be measured. It applies to force measurements on manually operated control elements, but not to force measurements during assembly activities. An evaluation of the forces is not part of the DIN/TS. A comparison of the measured values with the known maximum forces of certain target groups enables statements to be made on the actual feasibility for a user population. DIN/TS 35444 is not suitable for risk assessment: Factors such as frequency and duration of force application, posture or ergonomics of the handles are not addressed.
