Fundamentals of metrology - Part 2: Terminology related to measuring equipment - Amendment 1

Abstract

This document defines metrology terms that are of importance for the use of measuring equipment. The terms and definitions apply to all domains of metrology, regardless of the quantity to be measured. They supplement the fundamental terms and definitions given in DIN 1319-1.
Terms and definitions for the processing of measurement signals within a measuring system are not covered by this document. These terms and definitions are primarily defined in the terminology standards for control technology (DIN 19226-1 to DIN 19226-6) and telecommunication (DIN 40146-1). Neither are terms and definitions included that exclusively relate to legal metrology.
With the present amendment A1, the German term "Ziffernschritt" (en: digit) is adopted.
