Geometrical product specification (GPS) - Verification - Requirements for measurements to determine the characteristics for size, form, orientation, location and run-out

Abstract

This document defines the requirements for measurements to determine the default characteristics given in the ISO GPS standards DIN EN ISO 1101:2017-09 and DIN EN ISO 14405 (all parts). The measurement points to determine these characteristics are considered independently of the measurement methods used to record them. The default characteristics are specified for one or several combined geometrical features without additional modifiers. The rules set out in this document apply to geometrical features without prior knowledge about the manufacturing processes of these features. Prior knowledge about the manufacturing process of a geometrical feature influences the choice of verification parameters (e.g. number and distribution of recorded measurement points). Application of these rules is intended to result in comparability of measurement results. This document is intended to be used as a worksheet for planning verification measurements. When using this document, any deviations are documented in the verification measurement plan and the measurement data record.
