Abstract
This DIN SPEC in accordance with the PAS procedure has been drawn up by a DIN-SPEC-consortium set up on a temporary basis. This DIN SPEC has been developed and approved by the authors named in the foreword. This document extends and clarifies the syntax and semantics of the ISO 14306:2017 file format in order to: - enable easy 3D visualizations and precise geometric representations; - enable CAD interoperability, performance and consistency in communication across internal business units and corporate boundaries; - ensure long-term data retention and long-term use of the standard. It incorporates the requirements and enhancements gathered by the prostep ivip/VDA JT Workflow Forum and Implementor Forum, and covers the 40 JT use cases specified in prostep ivip Recommendation PSI 14-2. It is compatible with ISO 14306:2017 and addresses the relevant ISO/TC 184/SC 4 proposals for improvement.
