Abstract

This part of IEC 60079: – gives instructions, principally of a technical nature, on the repair, overhaul, reclamation, and alteration of Ex equipment designed for use in explosive atmospheres; – applies to overhaul and repair which mitigates deficiencies identified during operation, inspection and maintenance; – applies to manufacturers who overhaul and repair Ex Equipment which has been manufactured by other manufacturers; – assumes that good engineering practices are adopted throughout; – does not give advice on cable and wiring systems which can require a renewal when the equipment is re-installed; – is not applicable to Type of Protection “m”; and – is not applicable to manufacturers who overhaul and repair equipment which they have manufactured, however they may take into consideration the requirements of marking and user records for the user´s verification record.
