Transportation loads - Data collection of dynamic mechanical loads - Part 3: Examples of measurements of vertical transport loads from 2013 and 2021
Abstract
This document presents a compilation of data with the current status of vehicles and measurement technology (as of 2021) on mechanical-dynamic transport loads that can occur on the cargo area of transport vehicles (land vehicles) during use. No singular events such as shocks (e.g. railroad crossings, potholes) and also no driving maneuvers such as brake deceleration and transverse acceleration/u-turn (see DIN EN 12642) were included. Only the measurement results in the vertical direction were evaluated and the analysis of the results is presented, since in previous publications (e.g. DIN 30786-2:2013-02, DIN EN ISO 13533:2017-03) the procedure of the measurement was not documented and thus, the measurement results can not be reproduced. This document is, therefore, not suitable for providing a complete picture of the suitability of a package for transport. In the form of a data collection, it serves as a basis for understanding transport loads and can be used to derive test conditions for measurement runs and for transport simulation in laboratory tests. Limitations apply here as well, since the real amplitude distribution cannot be transferred to the test facility in the same way. Laboratory control systems typically operate with a crest factor of 3 to 5; measurements on the cargo areas of transport vehicles (land vehicles) sometimes show significantly higher values for the crest factor.
