Maintenance of electrically controlled hold-open systems for fire and smoke door assemblies as well as for electrically controlled hold-open systems for fire barriers in the course of ground-bound conveying systems - Part 1: Maintenance measures

Abstract

This document was prepared by the working committee NA 031-02-06 AA "Planning, maintenance, installation - mirror committee to CEN/TC 72/WG 11" in the DIN Standards Committee Committee Firefighting and Fire Protection (FNFW). The purpose of an electrically controlled hold-open system is to reliably detect self-closing fire/smoke protection closures when they are open and to release them at the earliest possible time in the event of a fire, but without causing an alarm signal that is forwarded to the fire department. This is where the required function of the fire detectors differs from their normal use in fire alarm systems. This document is intended to standardize the maintenance of hold-open systems and thus provide a basis for operators and maintenance engineers for the maintenance of hold-open systems for fire protection and/or smoke protection closures. Carrying out the maintenance measures in accordance with the specifications in this document ensures that hold-open systems with documented acceptance testing maintain their operational readiness over their entire service life when used and operated as intended. For hold-open systems, documented acceptance tests are prescribed by the building authorities or specified in the corresponding certificates of applicability. This document specifies requirements for the maintenance of electrically controlled hold-open systems for fire and/or smoke protection closures as well as fire protection closures in the course of track-bound conveyor systems (hereinafter referred to as "closures") in buildings. This document is not applicable to the maintenance of the closures themselves. This document is not applicable for the acceptance of hold-open systems for closures as required by the building authorities.
