Prevention of food waste - Digital reporting of food surpluses in the supply chain - Part 1: Definition of semantics and a data protocol for digital transmission

Abstract

This DIN SPEC in accordance with the PAS procedure has been drawn up by a DIN-SPEC-consortium set up on a temporary basis. This DIN SPEC has been developed and approved by the authors named in the foreword. This DIN SPEC specifies requirements for protocols for the uniform digital reporting of food surpluses along the entire value chain as a prerequisite for an AI-driven distribution platform. This document is intended for all stakeholders in the food supply chain in the B2B segment, especially for local farms, as well as international importers, producers and traders. By applying this DIN SPEC, surpluses are reported digitally in order to be able to convey them to relevant buyers and thus save them from disposal. These include: produce (fruits and vegetables), dairy products, dry foods, beverages, frozen products, meat and fish.
