Abstract
This document specifies edge shapes of flat glass for use in construction and their types of execution. They are applicable for basic glasses made of - soda-lime silicate glass according to DIN EN 572-1; - Borosilicate glass in accordance with DIN EN 1748-1-1; - Alkaline earth silicate glass to DIN EN 14178-1; - Alumino-silicate glass to DIN EN 15681-1; - Glass-ceramic according to DIN EN 1748-2-1. Edges of drilled holes are not covered by this document. NOTE 1 The edge processing of toughened and partially toughened flat glass products as well as laminated glass and laminated safety glass is regulated in the corresponding European product standards. NOTE 2 The edge shapes, their design and optical quality are not necessarily indicative of the edge strength. In general, the edge strength depends on the respective manufacturing processes. The determination of edge strength is not the subject of this document.
