Abstract

This document contains the general technical requirements for gripping and cutting pliers, but no specifications for insulating or antistatic properties of handles. Plastic covers or plastic sleeves are only used for grip comfort. In the latest revision, the general requirements for protection against clamping and squeezing have been refined in particular. The International Standard ISO 5743:2021 was prepared by the Technical Committee ISO/TC 29/SC 10, "Assembly tools for screws and nuts, pliers and nippers" with the participation of German experts from the Standards Committee NA 121 "Tools and Clamping Devices" (FWS) of the Working Committee NA 121-05-11 AA "Pliers".
