Vibrations in buildings - Part 2: Effects on persons in buildings

Abstract

This document provides guidelines for the assessment of vibrations in the frequency range from 1 Hz to 80 Hz that affect people in buildings. This document describes assessment procedures for the evaluation of any periodic and non-periodic vibrations from different vibration sources. The resulting different vibration effects are assessed by source-specific adapted procedures. This document establishes general principles for the appropriate consideration of vibration protection in immission control. Requirements and reference values are given, compliance with which can be expected to avoid, as a rule, significant nuisance to people in rooms requiring protection. This document is not to be used for the assessment of secondary airborne sound emitted by vibrating components and room boundary surfaces.
