Abstract

This part of IEC 60092 specifies the requirements for the design, construction and installation of electrical systems on small craft having a length of up to 50 m or a gross tonnage of up to 500 GT. It applies to small craft on inland waters and at sea. This Part of IEC 60092 does not apply to: a) small craft equipped only with a battery circuit for starting an engine and supplying navigation lights and the batteries are charged by an alternator driven by an inboard or outboard engine. b) Sport boats with a hull length of less than 24 m which must comply with European Directive (Sport boat Directive) 94/25/EC Annex I, BASIC SAFETY REQUIREMENTS FOR THE DESIGN AND CONSTRUCTION OF SPORT BOATS, paragraph 5.3 Electrical system. With the exception of three-phase electrical installations with a maximum voltage of AC 500 V in such sport boats.
