Fibre optic interconnecting devices and passive components - Performance standard - Part 081-06: Non-connectorized single-mode fibre optic middle-scale 1×N DWDM devices for category OP+ - Extended outdoor protected environment (IEC 86B/4398/CD:2020); Text in German and English
Abstract
In optical communications technology, DWDM (Dense Wavelength Division Multiplexing) and the associated components combine the signals of up to 64 channels in a fiber optic transmission link, thus allowing the transmission rate of the link to be increased. On the receiver side of the link, the signals are then decoupled and separated. The components thus form an important part of today's broadband infrastructure between data centers or on the way to the subscriber in point-to-point networks. This part of IEC 61753 provides the minimum initial test and measurement requirements and acuities that a medium-size fiber optic 1 N (16 N 64) dense wavelength division multiplexing (DWDM) device with a channel spacing of 50 GHz, 100 GHz, or 200 GHz must meet to be classified as meeting the requirements of the OP+ (extended outdoor protected environment) category. The requirements are given for the DWDM devices with Gaussian passband profile and flat-top passband profile. The requirements apply to devices with single-mode, non-terminated pigtails and without a printed circuit board. Thus, the standard provides investment security for manufacturers and users and gives test laboratories and manufacturers defined specifications for testing.
