Aggregates for railway ballast - Part 1: Characteristics; German and English version prEN 13450-1:2021
Abstract
This European Standard specifies the characteristics of aggregates for use in the construction of the upper layer of railway track.Aggregates covered in this European Standard are Railway ballast. Railway ballast refers to aggregates where 100 % of the surface of the particles can be described as totally crushed and that are obtained by processing natural, manufactured materials or recycled crushed unbound aggregates. Aggregates covered in this European Standard are coarse aggregates (see 3.1.10). The non-harmonised Part 2 standard will provide non-contradictory complementary information to assist in the practical application of the Part 1 standard, including advice on the reasons for testing and declaring various characteristics and recommendations for the practical implementation of factory production control measures.
