Abstract

This Standards establishes safety requirements for: - Powered hand strapping tools, - Semi-automatic and - Automatic strapping machines. It does not apply to: - Strapping tools, where the strap tension is only applied by manual effort, - Machines, which are foreseen to use paper as strap, and to - Hand-held motor-operated electric strapping tools. Not consired are the following hazards: - Use of strapping machines in potentially explosive atmosphere, - Health, safety or hygiene hazards associated with products that may be handled by the machines, and - Hazards associated with decommissioning strapping machines.
