Washer-disinfectors

This working committee is responsible for the standardization in the field of washer-disinfectors. This includes the development of specifications and test methods for washer-disinfectors with:

• thermal disinfection for surgical instruments, anaesthetic equipment, bowls, dishes, receivers, utensils, glassware, etc.;
• thermal disinfection for human waste containers;
• chemical disinfection for thermolabile endoscopes;
• test soils and methods for demonstrating cleaning efficacy;
• thermal disinfection for non-invasive, non-critical medical devices and healthcare equipment;
• chemical disinfection for non-invasive, non-critical thermolabile medical devices and health care equipment.

The specified requirements represent the state of the art for the development and manufacturing as well as for the validation of the cleaning and disinfection processes for the processing of medical devices in healthcare facilities.
