Made in Germany - as a brand and marking Possibilities and restrictions
Made in Germany - als Marke und Kennzeichnung
Abstract
Labelling a product as "Made in Germany" has the effect of implying that the product is of superior quality, with the result that this indication appears to be a quality label encouraging consumers to assume they are buying a high-quality product. Customers associate the indication of geographical origin with certain technical standards and high-quality workmanship, and transfer these characteristics to the corresponding product. As the "Made in Germany" label is considered an indication of quality, its use is linked to a series of admission criteria. This brochure seeks to provide orientation by summarizing the most important requirements.
