Measurement of coatings - Non-destructive measurement of the conductivity of metallic coatings

Title (German)

Messung von Schichten - Zerstörungsfreie Leitfähigkeitsmessung metallischer Schichten

Overview

This document specifies a method for the non-destructive conductivity measurement of metallic coatings or parts. This involves non-destructive contact or non-contact measurements on standard metallic coatings or parts. The probe, or a measuring instrument with an integrated probe, is placed on the coating or part to be measured. The measuring instrument indicates the conductivity σ of the material. The measurement can be used both for direct determination of the conductivity at T = 20 °C as a material property, and also for determining other material properties that correlate with the conductivity, or for the comparative indirect measurement of various materials and/or material properties. Typical material properties that can be correlated with the conductivity include the hardness, structural strength of alloys, coating tension or similar. This standard has been prepared by Working Committee NA 062-01-61 AA "Mess- und Prüfverfahren für metallische und andere anorganische Überzüge" ("Measuring and test methods for metallic and other inorganic coatings") at DIN Standards Committee Materials Testing (NMP).
