DIN 19569-2
Wastewater treatment plants - Principles for the design of structures and technical equipment - Part 2: Specific principles for the equipment for separating and thickening of solids (without facilities for separation and treatment of sand)
Kläranlagen - Baugrundsätze für Bauwerke und technische Ausrüstungen - Teil 2: Besondere Baugrundsätze für Einrichtungen zum Abtrennen und Eindicken von Feststoffen (ohne Einrichtungen zum Abtrennen und Behandeln von Sand)
Overview
This standard has been prepared by Working Committee NA 119-05-36 AA "Kläranlagen" ("Wastewater treatment plants") at DIN Standards Committee Water Practice (NAW). This standard specifies special design principles for equipment used to separate and thicken solids, namely for: - those structures or parts of structures where the arrangement or function of the technical equipment shall be taken into consideration, and - technical equipment, insofar as special technical or plant-specific requirements shall be observed during planning, construction and operation. This standard does not define any general principles of civil and mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, safety engineering or wastewater treatment. This standard does not apply to sand traps and sand treatment plants. DIN 19569-2:2002-12 continues to apply to these plant components. This standard does not apply to micro-sieves with mesh sizes below 0,05 mm, which are used in particular to separate solids from treated wastewater (post-filtration). This standard can also be used for equipment for separating solids in drainage systems. This standard applies in conjunction with the general design principles of DIN EN 12255-1 and the relevant section standards for individual equipment in wastewater treatment plants, in particular DIN EN 12255-3 (preliminary treatment), but also, for example, DIN EN 12255-4 (primary treatment), DIN EN 12255-6 (activated sludge process), DIN 19551-1 (rectangular tanks - sedimentation tanks) and DIN 19552 (circular tanks - sedimentation tanks and thickener). The general and special design principles in this standard also apply to such facilities for which no special section standard exists. The standard differs from DIN 19569-2:2002-12 as follows: a) The previous Clause 7 "Sand trap systems" and Clause 8 "Sand treatment systems" of DIN 19569-2:2002-12 have been removed and are no longer included in this part of the series of standards. It is intended to deal with these clauses in a new part of the series of standards; b) the standard has been revised and updated in terms of content and editing; c) the repetition of specifications of other standards has been avoided; d) the information to be provided in the invitation to tender has been specified in more detail and supplemented; e) screens and sieves are dealt with together in one clause; f) the definition of screens and sieves has been changed; g ) the classification of the fineness of screens has been updated and differs from that in DIN EN 12255-3; h) equations for the hydraulic design of screens and sieves have been added; i) further developments of screenings presses have been taken into account; j) a measure of the effectiveness of screenings washing has been introduced and a test method for this is described in the Annex. Screenings presses have been taken into account; k) a measure of the effectiveness of screenings washing has been introduced and a test procedure for this was described in the Annex.
