Overview

This standard defines terms and parameters for cylindrical worm gears with the flank forms A, C, I, K and N. These terms and parameters apply to gear sets, worms, worm wheels, tooth thickness allowances and backlash. DIN 3975-2 applies to deviations. The national interests in its preparation were represented by Committee NA 060-34-14 AA "Schneckenverzahnungen" ("Worm Gears") at Technical Section Gear of DIN Standards Committee Mechanical Engineering (NAM). Representatives of the manufacturers and users of worm gears as well as of employers' liability insurance associations were involved in the preparation.
