DIN ISO 14490-7
Optics and photonics - Test methods for telescopic systems - Part 7: Test methods for limit of resolution (ISO 14490-7:2016)

Title (German)

Optik und Photonik - Prüfverfahren für Fernrohre - Teil 7: Prüfverfahren zur Bestimmung des Auflösungsvermögens (ISO 14490-7:2016)

Overview

This part of DIN ISO 14490 specifies the test methods for determining the resolving power of monocular and binocular telescopes. Various properties are relevant for the general image quality of monocular and binocular telescopes. Two important characteristics are the limit of resolution and the optical transfer function. Besides the limit of resolution and the optical transfer function, further characteristics are relevant for an assessment of the image quality. The most important of these are the secondary spectrum (dispersive aberrations), distortion, vignetting and colour matching. This document (ISO 14490-7:2016) has been prepared by ISO/TC 172/SC 4 "Telescopic Systems" (secretariat: GOST R, Russia) with the collaboration of German experts. Working Committee NA 027-01-10 AA "Fernrohre und Vergrößerungsgläser" ("Telescopic systems") at DIN Standards Committee Optics and Precision Mechanics (NAFuO) at DIN Deutsches Institut für Normung e. V. (German Institute for Standardization) is responsible.
