Power cables with extruded insulation and their accessories for rated voltages above 36 kV (Uₘ = 42 kV) up to 150 kV (Uₘ = 170 kV); German version HD 632 S3:2016, Parts 0, 1, 3-D, 4-D and 5-D
Overview
This standard specifies test methods and test requirements for power cables with extruded insulation made of the insulation compounds listed in Table 1 for cables for rated voltages U above 36 kV (Um = 42 kV) up to 150 kV (Um = 170 kV) and for their accessories. The cables are permanently installed and are intended for transmission and distribution systems and for use in power stations and switchgear. The requirements apply to single-core cables and individually screened three-core cables and their accessories for normal laying and operating conditions, but not to special purpose cables and their accessories, such as submarine cables, for which modifications to the standard tests may be necessary or for which it is necessary to specify special test conditions. This standard does not cover transition joints between cables with extruded insulation and paper insulation. This standard differs from DIN VDE 0276-632 (VDE 0276 632):1999-05 as follows: - the fourth edition of IEC 60840 has been included as Part 1 of this standard; - introduction of a prequalification test for cables with high electrical load and testing as a cable system including accessories. - the main clauses 3D, 4D and 5D have been revised in accordance with the changes in Part 1; - the normative references have been updated and the standard has been editorially revised. The responsible committee is DKE/UK 411.1 "Starkstromkabel" ("Power cables") of the DKE (German Commission for Electrical, Electronic and Information Technologies) at DIN and VDE.
