Overview
The standards of the EN 2714 series describe requirements for single and multi-core electrical cables for general use in electrical systems of aircraft at operating temperatures between -55 °C and 260 °C. The standard DIN EN 2714-013 specifies the characteristics of UV laser printable DR family, single and multicore screened (spiral) and jacketed electrical lightweight cables for use in the on-board electrical systems of aircraft, at operating temperatures between -55 °C and 260 °C. If required, -65 °C is also acceptable as shown by cold test. It shall also be possible to mark these cables by qualified compatible marking. These markings shall satisfy the requirements of EN 3838. The standard differs from the previous edition DIN EN 2714-013:2006-10 as follows: a) the restriction to certain sizes has been removed for the use of these cables at 230/400 V; b) in Table 2 a reference to the UV laser marking according to EN 3838 has been added to the tests according to EN 3475-201, EN 3475-401, EN 3475-411 and EN 3475-703, the test according to EN 3475-414 is generally applicable with PTFE protective sheath as well as the one according to EN 3475-501, the test according to EN 3475-706 is not applicable with red jacket, the tests according to EN 3475-807 and EN 3838 are new; c) the EN references have been expanded in Table 3 and single and two-core cables with a red jacket have been included. The EN 2714 series of standards has been prepared by the ASD-STAN, Technical Section Electrotechnology, with the participation of German experts from DIN Standards Committee Aerospace (NL). AeroSpace and Defence Industries Association of Europe - Standardization (ASD-STAN) has been declared responsible by the European Committee for Standardization (CEN) for preparing European Standards (EN) for the aerospace sector. The responsible German standardization committee is Working Committee NA 131-04-02 AA "Elektrische Leitungen" ("Electric cables") at DIN Standards Committee Aerospace (NL).
