Title (German)

Halbleiterbauelemente - Halbleiterschnittstelle zur Kommunikation über den menschlichen Körper - Teil 2: Beschreibung der Schnittstellenfunktion (IEC 62779-2:2016); Deutsche Fassung EN 62779-2:2016

Overview

In human body communication (HBC), a user's body serves as the transmission medium by means of near-field coupling in the body: A signal transmitter and a signal receiver are coupled to each other via a near field formed in the body and in the air. The near field is particularly strong due to the high dielectric constant of the body, so that a data signal is transmitted through the body by near-field modulation. A signal transmitter and a signal receiver for HBC each have internal grounds that are separated from each other in most HBC applications, although air coupling remains. The quality of data transmission is highly dependent on the degree of coupling between the grounds; therefore, it is very important to maintain the degree of coupling between the grounds of the signal generator and signal receiver for accurate measurement of the electrode's operating performance. This part of DIN EN 62779 (VDE 0884-79) specifies a measurement method for the electrical operating behavior of an electrode that is part of a semiconductor interface for human body communication (HBC). It contains the general specifications and the functional specifications of the measurement procedure. In this measurement method, a signal transmitter and a signal receiver are galvanically separated in order to obtain decoupling of the transmitter and receiver and to be able to accurately measure the operating behavior of the electrode.
