Luft- und Raumfahrt - Optische Rundsteckverbinder mit dreigängiger Schraubkupplung - Bündige Kontakte - Teil 101: Optischer Kontakt für Multimode-Kabel nach EN 4641, -55 °C bis 125 °C - Produktnorm; Deutsche und Englische Fassung EN 4531-101:2016
Overview
The standard series DIN EN 4531 describes the characteristics of single and multipin optical circular connectors, coupled by triple start threaded ring and flush contacts for aerospace applications. The new edition of Part 101 defines the performance and dimensions of optical PC profiled contacts for 62,5 μm/125 μm fibre and (1,8 ± 0,1) mm diameter cable. The standard differs from the previous edition DIN EN 4531-101:2012-07 as follows: a) The scope of the standard has been changed to multimode cables as well as extended to include fibers of 50 µm/125 µm and the title of the standard has been adapted accordingly; b) Table 1 has been supplemented by the fiber type 50 µm/125 µm; c) a weight specification for a contact has been added in 4.1; d) Table 2 has been extended by a column for the grommet color; e) the previous Clause 5 has been renumbered to 4.3, the subsequent numbering changed accordingly; f) in Table 4, for test 2591-605, the backscatter loss specification has been changed from a maximum value to a minimum value and details have been included for test EN 2591-613; g) the cleaning instructions contained in the clause of the same name have been replaced by a reference to EN 4533-004. The standard series EN 4531 has been prepared by ASD-STAN, Technical Section Electrics, Avionics, with the participation of German experts of the Aerospace Standards Committee. The European Committee for Standardization (CEN) declared the Aerospace and Defence Industries Association of Europe (ASD-STAN) responsible for the preparation of European standards (EN) for the field of aerospace. ASD became the associated body (ASB) of CEN by the agreement dated 3 October 1986. The responsible German standardization committee is Working Committee NA 131-04-10 AA "LWL und LWL-Komponenten" ("LWL and LWL-components") at DIN Standards Committee Aerospace (NL).
