Overview

This document specifies safety requirements and test methods for slings used for mountaineering including climbing. The sling is defined as a strap, cord or piece of rope joined together in a form-fitting manner by seams or other joining methods. The shape and length are not specified. However, some examples of slings are shown. This standard differs from DIN EN 566:2007-03 as follows: a) requirements for test methods for the stability test have been amended; b) test conditions have been amended. On the national level Working Committee NA 112-04-05 AA "Bergsteigerausrüstung" ("Mountaineering equipment") at DIN Standards Committee Sports Equipment (NASport) is responsible.
