Electrical apparatus for the detection and measurement of toxic and combustible gases in car parks and tunnels - Part 1: General performance requirements and test methods for the detection and measurement of carbon monoxide and nitrogen oxides; German version EN 50545-1:2011 + A1:2016
Overview
This European Standard applies to apparatus for the detection and/or the measurement of carbon monoxide (CO), nitrogen monoxide (NO) and nitrogen dioxide (NO2) intended to control a ventilation system and/or to give an indication, alarm or any other signal to warn of a toxic hazard. This European Standard specifies general requirements for the construction, testing and operating behavior and describes the test methods that apply to fixed apparatus for the detection and/or the measurement of the concentration of the target gases in car parks and tunnels. The target gases for the purpose of this standard are carbon monoxide, nitrogen monoxide, and nitrogen dioxide. This European Standard may also be applied to similar applications where the concentration of the target gases could lead to a risk to health, for example loading areas for trucks and underground bus stations. This European Standard includes requirements for remote gas sensors (RGS) to be used in car parks and tunnels and requirements for the control unit (CU) to be used in car parks. The present Amendment 1 removes from the test methods the test of the flow velocity for devices with diffusion operation from the standard. The responsible committee is DKE/UK 966.1 "Mess- und Warngeräte für gefährliche Gase" ("Measurement and warning devices for dangerous gases") of the DKE (German Commission for Electrical, Electronic and Information Technologies) at DIN and VDE.
