DIN EN ISO 19429
Dentistry - Designation system for dental implants (ISO 19429:2015); German version EN ISO 19429:2016

Title (German)

Zahnheilkunde - Bezeichnungssystem für Dentalimplantate (ISO 19429:2015); Deutsche Fassung EN ISO 19429:2016

Overview

This standard has been prepared by ISO/TC 106/SC 8/WG 1 "Implant Terminology" (secretariat: AFNOR, France), in collaboration with CEN/TC 55 "Dentistry" (secretariat: DIN). Working Group NA 014-00-21-01 AK NA 014-00-21-01 "Terminologie dentaler Implantatsysteme" ("Terminology for dental implant systems") at DIN Working Committee NA 014-00-21 AA "Dentalimplantate" ("Dental implants") at DIN-NADENT is responsible. The standard provides a system for designating the location of an implant body within a jaw, and is intended for use with the scheme described in ISO 3950. It does not in itself indicate whether the device is visible within the oral cavity or the presence of transmucosal components or implant restorations. Since the system describes location but not restoration form, it is not necessary to use the quadrant designation numbers 5 to 8 which are employed when indicating a primary tooth.
