Workplaces atmospheres - Routine methods for the determination of dustiness of bulk materials - Part 4: Repeated drop in the cross-flow
Arbeitsplatzatmosphäre - Routineverfahren zur Bestimmung des Staubungsverhaltens von Schüttgütern - Teil 4: Wiederholter Fall im Querstrom
Overview
A routine method for determining dustiness is specified that is based on the principle of repeated drops in the cross-flow of a rotating drum. The method provides parameters for the dustiness of the inhalable fraction and the alveolar fraction of the airborne particles of bulk materials and can be used in routine operation to determine the dustiness of all powdered or granulated materials with the exception of such powdered materials that tend to form granules or become matted due to continuous movement in a rotating drum without further addition of auxiliary agents. This document does not apply to measurements of the dustiness of bulk materials for which compliance with the requirements of DIN EN 15051 shall be demonstrated. In the course of the editorial revision of the previous edition, the existing content-related difference from the standard DIN EN 15051 has been reworded in terms of language and references to it were rearranged in accordance with the new standard structure of DIN EN 15051 (available as a three-part series of standards since 2014). In addition, reference has been made to the terminology standard DIN EN 1540 with regard to the terms used in the standard. Normative and informative references have been updated where necessary. The present document has been prepared by Working Group NA 095-03-01-01 AK "Staub" ("Particulate matter") of NA 095-03-01 AA "Messstrategien und Anforderungen an Messverfahren" ("Measurement strategies and requirements for test methods") at DIN Standards Committee Safety Design Principles (NASG).
