Overview
This European Standard is the result of the revision and merging of the two parts of the standard EN 13129-1 and -2. This document thus covers comfort parameters and type tests for air conditioning in main line rolling stock. The aim of this European standard is to establish uniform comfort parameters of air conditioning systems for passenger compartments or large spaces of railway vehicles (single level or double-decker) of European long-distance transport, including spaces intended for train crew. It also specifies conditions, performance values and measurement methods to demonstrate the comfort parameters. The document applies to main line rolling stock used to transport passengers, with the exception of suburban vehicles, metros, tramways and driver's cabs. The document has been prepared under a mandate given to CEN by the European Commission and the European Free Trade Association and supports essential requirements of EU Directive 2008/57/EC. The informative Annex ZA clarifies the relationship with this EU Directive. Thus, together with the EN 14750 series of standards for urban and regional mass transit and EN 14813 for driver's cabs, this document serves as a technical standard for air conditioning in rail vehicles. The standard primarily meets requirements for consumer protection, health and serviceability. Normative references are made to EN ISO 7726. This document has been prepared under a mandate given to CEN by the European Commission and the European Free Trade Association, and supports essential requirements of EU Directive 2008/57/EC.
