Overview
The International Standard ISO 361:1975 has been prepared by Technical Committee ISO/TC 85 "Nuclear energy, nuclear technologies, and radiological protection" of the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) and has been taken over by Technical Committee CEN/TC 430 "Nuclear energy, nuclear technologies, and radiological protection" the secretariat of which is held by AFNOR. This International Standard specifies the symbol to be used to signify the actual or potential presence of ionizing radiation and to identify objects, devices, materials or combinations of materials which emit ionizing radiation. Further specifications on the use of the radiation protection symbol, also in combination with texts and colours, are contained in DIN 25430. The committee responsible for this standard is NA 062-07-61 AA "Terminologie und Grundlagen" ("Terminology and fundamentals") at DIN.
