Overview
This detail specification covers fixed low power wirewound surface mount resistors with rectangular footprint of type RW with terminals at the ends for application on printed circuit boards and flexible foils. This specification meets the requirements of the zero defect approach. Assessment level EZ meets the requirements of the zero defect approach and aligns the evaluation procedures and levels with common industry practices, for example by setting the allowable number of non-conformities (acceptance number) at zero. All resistors in accordance with this specification are 100% tested during the manufacturing process. Components accepted in accordance with this detail specification, classification level R, shall be delivered with a failure rate (E5 or E6 or E7 or E8); components accepted in accordance with this detail specification, classification level P, shall be delivered without a failure rate (E0). The normative Annex A contains the test plan for the qualification approval with fixed sample size and the quality conformity test for fixed low power wirewound surface mount resistors. The informative Annex B contains formula symbols and abbreviations; the normative Annex C contains normative references; the normative Annex D the assembly of the components. The bibliography completes the document. Compared to EN 140402-801:2005, the following significant technical changes have been made in EN 140402-801:2015: - adoption of the rated load capacity at an ambient temperature of 70 °C, whereby the previously used rated load capacity at an ambient temperature of 25 °C is retained as an additional specification; - increase of the rated load capacity at an ambient temperature of 70 °C to 2,4 W, with a rated load capacity at an ambient temperature of 25 °C = 3.0 W, for type RW1607M; - inclusion of a test for resistance to electrostatic discharge (ESD); - inclusion of the code letters for the temperature coefficient (TCR); - revision of the ordering data; - adoption of the IECQ procedure rules according to QC 001002-3; - revision of the sample sizes and the sequence of tests in Annex A; - editorial revision. The responsible committee is DKE/GK 613 "Widerstände" ("Resistors") of the DKE (German Commission for Electrical, Electronic and Information Technologies) at DIN and VDE.
