DIN ISO 1751
Ships and marine technology - Ships' side scuttles (ISO 1751:2012)
Schiffe und Meerestechnik - Runde Schiffsfenster (ISO 1751:2012)
Overview
This International Standard specifies the classification of side scuttles for ships (series, types and models), and gives the dimensions for interchangeability and construction, materials, tests, marking and designation of these framed side scuttles with thermally toughened safety glass panes. The document is the national adoption of ISO 1751:2012-07. This International Standard is based on the experience of side scuttles and glass manufacturers, shipbuilders and authorities who apply to ships the Regulations of the International Convention for the Safety of Life at Sea, 1974 (SOLAS 1974), as amended, and of the International Convention of Load Lines, 1966, as amended. The national adoption of ISO 1751 is also planned as a replacement for DIN 81613:1973-03. The majority of the changes planned for updating DIN 81613:1973-03 were incorporated in ISO 1751:2012-07. In most cases, tests of side scuttles are already carried out according to ISO 1751. It is planned to refer to the national adoption of the ISO standard in an update of the Regulation on Safety of Ships in Inland Navigation (BinSchUO) The committee responsible for this national standard is NA 132-01-03 AA "Fenster" ("Windows") at DIN.
