Mineral insulated cables and their terminations with a rated voltage not exceeding 750 V - Part 1: Cables (IEC 60702-1:2002 + A1:2015); German version EN 60702-1:2002 + A1:2015
Mineralisolierte Leitungen mit einer Nennspannung bis 750 V - Teil 1: Leitungen (IEC 60702-1:2002 + A1:2015); Deutsche Fassung EN 60702-1:2002 + A1:2015
Overview
The DIN EN 60702 (VDE 0284) series of standards describes requirements for mineral-insulated cables with a rated voltage not exceeding 750 V. DIN EN 60702-1 (VDE 0284-1) specifies mineral-insulated cables for general wiring with a copper or copper alloy sheath and rated voltages of 500 V and 750 V. A corrosion resistant extruded outer shell over the copper sheath is taken into account, if required. This outer sheath is not designed as electrical insulation of the metal sheath. The purpose of this standard is to define mineral-insulated cables so that they are safe and reliable when used as intended. It specifies manufacturing requirements and characteristics to achieve this goal and procedures for verifying compliance with these requirements. Standard DIN EN 60702-2 (VDE 0284-2) contains requirements for terminations of mineral-insulated cables which meet the requirements of EN 60702-1. The responsible committee is Subcommittee DKE/UK 411.2 "Isolierte Starkstromleitungen" ("Insulated cables, wires and flexible cords for power installation") of the DKE (German Commission for Electrical, Electronic and Information Technologies) at DIN and VDE.
