Steelcord conveyor belts for use in underground coal mining - Belt joints - Part 4: Dimensions, requirements

Title (German)

Stahlseil-Fördergurte für den Steinkohlenbergbau unter Tage - Gurtverbindungen - Teil 4: Maße, Anforderungen

Overview

Steelcord conveyor belts in underground coal mining are used for the continuous transport of lumpy transported debris of different sizes. Modern mining technologies and large transport distances and heights require efficient conveyor belts. The problem in this context is the belt joints, that is, the areas in which the ropes from the ends of two belt lengths for the purpose of tensile force transmission are connected to each other via intermediate layers of rubber in accordance with the laid out in the draft standard laying schemes. These areas shall meet the same technological requirements as the running belt. The belt connection designs specified in this draft standard are based on studies to determine the dynamic strength of belt connections. Taking into account the most uniform possible stress distribution in the rope and in the rubber, the illustrated diagrams have proven to be particularly favourable. The standard was prepared by Working Committee 008-05-05 "Fördergurte" ("Conveyor belts") in the Mining Standards Committee (FABERG).
