DIN 54802-1
Testing of plastics - Determination of plasticizer sorption and rate of plasticizer sorption in the heat of vinyl chloride (VC) polymers - Part 1: Planetary mixer method
Prüfung von Kunststoffen - Bestimmung der Weichmacheraufnahme und der Weichmacheraufnahmegeschwindigkeit in der Wärme von Vinylchlorid-(VC-)Polymerisaten - Teil 1: Planetenmischer-Verfahren
Overview
The purpose of the test according to this standard is to determine the quantity of diisononyl phthalate (DINP) plasticizer absorbed at 85 °C by a VC polymer for general use to form a dry mixture and the average rate at which the VC polymer absorbs plasticizer during mixing. Knowledge of plasticizer absorption and the plasticizer absorption rate at 85 °C is important for assessing the suitability of a VC polymer for the production of powdery, polyvinyl chloride (PVC-P) moulding compounds containing plasticizer. This standard differs from DIN 54802-1:1997-09 as follows: a) normative references updated; b) dioctyl phthalate (DOP) replaced by diisononyl phthalate (DINP) throughout the document and the test temperature increased from 75 °C to 85 °C; c) oil included as alternative tempering fluid; d) Annex A (informative) revised; e) editorially revised. This document has been prepared by Working Committee NA 054-02-10 AA "Thermoplast-Formmassen" ("Thermoplastic materials") of the Standards Committee Plastics (FNK) at DIN.
