Overview
This standard is a basic standard for circuit breakers. This generic standard includes the general requirements and provisions for electrical and electronic circuit breakers of DC and low-frequency technology for current and voltage protection without specified characteristic impedance. It contains statements relating to unchanging technical requirements and test conditions, that is properties and provisions that apply to the respective components as well as general procedures, matters of liability, patent law, etcetera. The detail standard specifies the specific technical requirements and tests applicable to the respective component. The committee responsible for the standard is NA 140-00-08 AA "Schutzschalter" ("Circuit breakers") of the Electrical Engineering Standards Committee (NE) at DIN.
