DIN EN 61290-3-3
Optical amplifiers - Test methods - Part 3-3: Noise figure parameters - Signal power to total ASE power ratio (IEC 61290-3-3:2013); German version EN 61290-3-3:2014

Title (German)

Lichtwellenleiter-Verstärker - Prüfverfahren - Teil 3-3: Rauschzahlparameter - Verhältnis der Signalleistung zur Gesamt-ASE-Leistung (IEC 61290-3-3:2013); Deutsche Fassung EN 61290-3-3:2014

Overview

This part of IEC 61290-3 applies to all commercial single channel optical amplifiers (OA) including OAs with optically pumped fibres (OFA) based on either rare-earth doped fibres or the Raman effect as well as to semiconductor optical amplifiers (SOA) and planar optical waveguide amplifiers (POWA). In particular, this standard applies to single channel OAs installed upstream of optical receivers without optical bandpass filter elements between the OA and the receiver. The purpose of this part of IEC 61290-3 is the specification of consistent requirements for precise and reliable measurements of the signal power output to total ASE power ratio generated by the OA within the optical band width of the receiver. The standard gives details for different tests. Thus, the standard provides security of investment.
