DIN 6162
Determination of iodine colour number
Bestimmung der Iodfarbzahl
Overview
This standard specifies a method for determining the colour strength of clear liquids such as solvents, plasticizers, resins, resin solutions, oils and fatty acids with a colour similar to the colour of a solution of iodine and potassium iodide. The test method is based on the iodine colour number scale defined in Annex A. For iodine colour numbers around and under 1, the determination of the Pt-Co colour number in accordance with DIN EN ISO 6271 is to be preferred. The following modifications have been made with respect to DIN 6162:1981-12: a) visual colour comparison has been replaced with photometric measurement; b) explanations have been deleted; c) the text has been editorially adapted to the current revision of DIN EN ISO 4630 and DIN EN ISO 6271. The standard has been prepared by Working Committee NA 054-01-03 AA "Physikalische, rheologische und analytische Prüfungen" ("Physical, rheological and analytical tests") at the Plastics Standards Committee (FNK) in collaboration with the Coatings and Coating Materials Standards Committee (NAB) at DIN.
