DIN EN 16425
Simple Publishing Interface; English version EN 16425:2014
Schnittstelle für einfaches Publizieren (Simple Publishing Interface - SPI); Englische Fassung EN 16425:2014
Overview
DIN EN 16425 specifies a simple publishing interface (SPI). This is a protocol for publishing digital objects or their metadata in repositories for learning objects. This protocol is used to facilitate the transfer of metadata and content from the producers of those learning materials to applications for the administration of learning objects and metadata. DIN EN 16425 proposes an easily manageable approach for achieving interoperability between repositories for learning objects and those applications that either use or generate such learning materials. Though the focus of DIN EN 16425 is on the fields of learning, education and training, the SPI specification may also be applied to other areas. EN 16425 has been prepared by CEN/TC 353 "Information and communication technologies for learning, education and training", the secretariat of which is held by UNI (Italy). The responsible German committee is the Information Technology and selected IT Applications Standards Committee (NIA) at DIN. Currently, there is no national mirror committee to JTC 1/SC 36 or CEN/TC 353, the corresponding work is attended by a rapporteur. Nicolaus Kovác's EN 16425 has been prepared by CEN/TC 353 "Information and communication technologies for learning, education and training", the secretariat of which is held by UNI (Italy). The responsible German committee is the Information Technology and selected IT Applications Standards Committee (NIA) at DIN.
