Overview
This standard is applicable to portable voltage detectors, with or without built-in power source, to be used in electrical networks with AC voltages of 15 kV and 110 kV for a frequency of 16,7 Hz. This part only applies for capacitive voltage detectors that are in contact with the system parts to be tested during the application, as associated type including its insulating part or as separate type, supplemented by an insulating stick which is not covered by this standard. Other types of voltage detectors are not covered by this standard. The voltage detectors described in this standard are not suitable for application in overhead contact line systems. Voltage detectors for overhead contact line systems 15 kV, 16,7 Hz shall be designed in accordance with DIN VDE 0681-6. This preliminary standard is based on the currently valid DIN EN 61243-1 (VDE 0682-411):2010-09 "Live working - Voltage detectors - Part 1: Capacitive type to be used for voltages exceeding 1 kV a.c. (IEC 61243-1:2003, modified + Corrigendum 1:2005 + A1:2009); German version EN 61243-1:2005 + A1:2010)". It has been adjusted for railway-typical requirements since DIN EN 61243-1 (VDE 0682-411):2010 only applies, for example, for 50 Hz/60 Hz. For this purpose, the normative references to withdrawn standards were maintained in this standard and reference was made to each current edition which has been incorporated in the Bibliography. The responsible committee is Subcommittee UK 214.4 "Ausrüstung und Geräte zum Arbeiten unter Spannung; Prüfgeräte, Isolierstangen und Vorrichtungen zum Erden und Kurzschließen" ("Equipment and devices for live working; test apparatus, insulating rods and devices for grounding and short circuiting") of the DKE (German Commission for Electrical, Electronic and Information Technologies) at DIN and VDE.
